Ravichandran Ashwin, the legendary spinner, is disappointed with India’s performance in the first ODI of the three-match series against Australia in Perth. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said that there was nothing positive to take for India from the first match except for Nitish Kumar Reddy’s batting.
“There were no positive takeaways from this game, maybe Nitish Reddy’s batting. I mean it is what it is. We had a really bad day. I hope Nitish gets to bowl more.”
Australia defeated India comfortably by seven wickets (DLS method). Both the batters and bowlers struggled to put on notable performance. India scored only 136 in 26 overs and the bowlers could only take three wickets.
Ashwin believes that India should play the same pace attack and if Harshit Rana does not perform according to expectations, then they can try Prasidh Krishna.
“I think India have to continue with this seam bowling attack. It will be tough to judge the bowlers as they had only 131 to defend. If the conditions are a bit drier, then you can consider bringing in Kuldeep Yadav. I think in this series, it is definitely worth giving Prasidh Krishna a look. If Harshit does not work very well, then you can go to Prasidh.” he said.
The second ODI will be played on Thursday, October 23 in Adelaide.
