Former India batter Manoj Tiwary has made a bold claim against the Indian cricket team management. He said the new Bronco Test is being done to keep players like Rohit Sharma out of the 2027 World Cup plans.
In the Bronco Test, a player needs to perform five sets of 20m, 40m and 60m shuttles each and complete 1,200m under six minutes.
Speaking on Crictracker, Tiwary shared his observations. He felt it would be a struggle for players like Rohit to get into the ODI squad now. That’s because unlike Virat Kohli, his endurance level will be put to test.
“I think it will be difficult to keep Virat Kohli out of the plans for the 2027 World Cup. But I have a doubt that they are going to look at Rohit Sharma into the scheme of things,” Tiwary said.
“I’m a keen observer of what is going on in Indian cricket. And I believe this Bronco Test, which was introduced a few days back, is for players like Rohit. Someone, I believe, doesn’t want them to be part of the team in future. And that’s why it has been introduced.”
Tiwary questioned why this was introduced so suddenly. He also mentioned the possible outcome of Rohit’s test.
“Why now? Why not when your new head coach got the assignment from the very first series? Whose idea is it? Who introduced this? Who enforced this Bronco Test a few days back? It’s a question to which I don’t have an answer. But my observation says it is going to be difficult for Rohit if he doesn’t work really hard on his fitness. I think he will be stopped at the Bronco Test.”
