In a hilarious moment during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025 clash between Dindigul Dragons (DD) and Siechem Madurai Panthers (SMP), a routine single turned into three runs due to a series of fielding errors. The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media.

The incident took place on the penultimate ball of the first innings when batter Gurjapneet played a shot towards extra cover, where Ravichandran Ashwin was stationed. Ashwin collected the ball and attempted a throw to the bowler’s end, but the throw wasn’t collected properly, allowing the batters to complete a second run.

In an attempt to stop further damage, the fielder from short mid-wicket threw the ball—only for it to go well wide of the wicketkeeper, letting Gurjapneet and Rajalingam sneak a third run. To add to the chaos, a third throw from short third man also wasn’t collected at the bowler’s end. It briefly looked like the batters could even run four, but thankfully for Ashwin and DD, the comedy ended there.

DD Dominate Chase After Fielding Blunder

Despite the comic fielding lapse, DD made a strong comeback with the ball. SMP posted 150/8 in 20 overs, powered by a fifty from Atheeq Ur Rahman. For DD, DT Chandrasekar and Ganeshan Periyaswamy picked up two wickets each.

Chasing the target, Dindigul Dragons made light work of the total, thanks to a blistering 124-run opening stand in just 64 balls between skipper Ashwin and Shivam Singh. Ashwin scored 49 off 29 balls, while Shivam Singh remained unbeaten on 86 from 41 deliveries, guiding the team home with 45 balls to spare.

DD secured a nine-wicket win, their second victory in three games this season. With this result, they now sit at third place on the TNPL 2025 points table with four points and a net run rate of +0.405.
