India legend Ravichandran Ashwin lost his temper during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match on Sunday. Ashwin, the captain of the Dindigul Dragons, lost the toss to Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, who was leading the Dream Tiruppur Tamizhans. The veteran spinner, who has six Test hundreds for India, opened the batting for his side. However, his stay at the crease was brief, as he was dismissed by his counterpart, Sai Kishore, for just 18 runs.

Ashwin was clearly unhappy with the umpire’s decision. In the fifth over, Sai Kishore’s delivery struck him on the pads in front of the stumps, and the umpire raised her finger. But the former India all-rounder believed the ball was pitching outside leg stump. He approached the umpire and argued with her before making his way back to the pavilion. Visibly frustrated, Ashwin even struck his pad in disappointment.

The Dindigul Dragons were bowled out for just 93 runs in 16.2 overs, following a brilliant bowling performance by the Tiruppur side. Tushar Raheja’s unbeaten 65 made it a comfortable chase for Tiruppur, who won the match by nine wickets with 49 balls to spare.

Ashwin has also endured a disappointing IPL season with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), taking only seven wickets in nine matches and scoring just 33 runs with the bat.
