Trent Boult, the renowned New Zealand fast bowler, still has a strong desire to participate in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India, despite opting out of the central contract. Recently, Boult has observed a “little bit of movement” in that direction.
Boult, who is recognized as one of the finest left-arm pacers globally, had decided to step down from the New Zealand contract last year in August to spend more time with his family and play for numerous franchise teams worldwide.
However, this move reduced his role with the Black Caps, as coach Gary Stead and selectors preferred players who were contracted to New Zealand Cricket.
As a result, Boult hasn’t played international cricket since the Black Caps’ T20 World Cup semi-final defeat against Pakistan in November 2021.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have a 13-year career in the Black Cap and hey, I’ve still got a big desire to play in the World Cup as well,” Trent Boult told ESPNCricinfo. “We’ll see how that unfolds: there’s still a bit of movement in the landscape at the moment,” added the New Zealand pacer.
The Kiwi paceman has represented the Black Caps in 99 ODIs, taking 187 wickets with an average of 23.97 and achieving career-best figures of 7-34.
