Jos Buttler’s performance in the current IPL season has witnessed a sharp decline. In the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), on May 19th in Dharamshala, Buttler was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada after facing just three balls, resulting in his fifth duck of the season.
It meant that Buttler now holds the unwanted record for most number of no scores in a single IPL season. What makes this downfall more intriguing is, in his first 85 innings in IPL, Buttler was dismissed for a duck only once. However, in the ongoing IPL 2023, he has experienced the misfortune.
Despite these struggles, Buttler has managed to score 392 runs at an average of 28, including four half-centuries, across 14 matches this year’s IPL. Incidentally, he was adjudged the most valuable player in IPL 2022.
