Simone Vagnozzi has played a key role in Jannik Sinner’s meteoric rise, helping the Italian star reach the top of the PIF ATP Rankings. Alongside co-coach Darren Cahill, Vagnozzi has guided Sinner through a steady climb with a focus on preparation, mindset, and consistency.

Speaking to ATPTour.com, Vagnozzi shared his pride and excitement over Sinner’s achievement, crediting the behind-the-scenes hard work and calm mentality that has been central to the team’s approach.

“It’s a wonderful position, something we’ve been seeking for the last three and half years. Getting to No. 1 means going to every tournament with the intention of winning it. As we always say in our team, the important thing is trying to work and prepare as well as possible to have the chance to compete and win titles as much as possible. The important thing for us is to have the peace of mind that we have done things as well as possible,” Vagnozzi said.

Vagnozzi also spoke highly of Sinner’s biggest rival on tour, Carlos Alcaraz. While Sinner holds the No. 1 ranking, it’s Alcaraz who leads their Lexus ATP Head2Head battle 8–5. According to Vagnozzi, facing the Spaniard demands a different level of preparation.

“Carlos is such a special player that he creates problems for you that other players cannot. Therefore, it’s essential to prepare as well as possible to resolve the conundrums he sets you. The more you practise those situations in practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel in the match,” Vagnozzi mentioned.
