Vaibhav Suryavanshi (PC: X)

India’s young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has delivered a sensational performance for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Kolkata. The 14-year-old left-hander has now become the youngest player to hit a century in this format.

In the match against Maharashtra at Eden Gardens, Suryavanshi showcased his batting brilliance. After losing two early wickets — Bipin Saurabh (4) and Piyush Singh (7) — Suryavanshi stayed calm and focused. He stabilised the innings with his calm yet fierce batting and remained unbeaten on 108 runs from 61 balls. His innings included seven fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 177.04. He reached his century in just 58 balls, which is his slowest time to reach a ton. Even though wickets kept falling, Akash Raj (26) and Ayush Loharuka (25) helped Bihar post a strong total of 173 runs for the loss of three wickets. For Maharashtra, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Arshin Kulkarni and Vicky Ostwal picked one wicket each.

He achieved this record in his 16th professional T20 match, where he already has three T20 centuries to his name. Just a few weeks earlier, he smashed 144 runs off 42 balls against the UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. In this year’s IPL, he scored a sensational 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals and became the youngest player to do so and also the fastest by an Indian.

While chasing, Maharashtra started well with captain Prithvi Shaw scoring 66 runs off 33 balls. Niraj Joshi (30), Ranjeet Nikam (27), Nikhil Naik (22) and Yogesh Dongare (14) helped Maharashtra secure the victory by three wickets.
