Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi revealed that his father is always pushing him to improve and never seems fully pleased with his performances, no matter how good they are.
“My father is never satisfied with my performance, even if I score 200 runs; he would still say I could have made ten more. But my mother is always happy after seeing me bat. Whether I score a hundred or even a duck, she just says, ‘Keep doing well,’” said Vaibhav in the video shared by the BCCI.
The 14-year-old scored a record-breaking century in just 32 balls while playing for India A against the UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025, becoming the joint second-fastest Indian to score a T20 hundred, alongside Rishabh Pant, who achieved the feat for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2018.
Vaibhav smashed 144 off 42 balls, including 11 fours and 15 sixes, at a blistering strike rate of 342.85, which helped India A secure a 148-run victory.
The left-hander also offered insights into his approach:
“I don’t try to do anything extraordinary. I just focus on what I have practised since childhood — the hard work I’ve put in — and I try to bring that into my game on the field. If I try to do something different that isn’t part of my game, it won’t benefit the team, and personally, it won’t help me either. If I had stayed a little longer, maybe my score could have gone 20 or 30 runs higher, and I might have set a personal record.”
Next, Vaibhav will be in action on Sunday, when India A take on the Pakistan Shaheens at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.
