Varun Chakravarthy is now the world’s No. 1 T20I bowler for the first time. India’s ace spinner earned this position after his consistent performances in Asia Cup 2025. He took one wicket for four runs against the UAE and one for 24 against Pakistan. He is the third Indian bowler to top the ICC rankings after JaspritBumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.
Chakravarthy has steadily grown as a bowler. In only 20 T20Is, he has taken 35 wickets with an economy rate of 6.83. His sharp control andmystery variations have made him a big strength, especially on pitches that help spinners.
The latest ICC rankings saw several changes. New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy, who was No.1 since March, has now slipped to the second place. Sri Lanka’s NuwanThushara is sixth. Pakistan’s left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem is 11th and India’s Axar Patel is 12th. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed is 16th. Kuldeep Yadav is 23rd, and Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad is at 25th.
On the batting side, India opener Abhishek Sharma kept his No. 1 spot following his brisk knocks against the UAE and Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
England’s Phil Salt and Jos Buttler moved up after their record partnership against South Africa. Salt is at the second spot and Buttler is third for the first time.
