Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan opened up about his special dream with his younger brother Musheer Khan after producing a stunning knock in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He reflected on their shared dream of scoring centuries in the same match, which was missed by a few runs in Mumbai’s dominant win over Goa on December 31 in Jaipur.
In a conversation with the Times of India, Sarfaraz revealed, “We have a common dream of scoring hundreds in the same game. We were close in the Ranji Trophy this season and again last week, but we both got out in the fifties. Today, Musheer was batting so well and I thought we could do it. But dreams don’t come true that quickly.”
Sarfaraz showcased a destructive performance against Goa, smashing 157 runs off just 75 balls. His knock included nine fours and 14 maximums as Mumbai posted a mammoth total of 444 for 8. The innings also marked his third List A century, which he brought up in just 56 balls. While chasing, Goa fought well but eventually finished on 357/9, handing Mumbai a comfortable 87-run win.
Musheer also played a crucial role alongside his elder brother. Batting at number three, he scored 60 runs off 66 balls. Together, the duo added a vital 93-run partnership.
Explaining how comfortably he built his innings around Musheer’s batting, Sarfaraz said, “By the time I came to the crease, Musheer was batting really well. He was the first to reach fifty. I’ve played plenty of one-dayers and I know how to pace an innings. I have a good sweep and cut, and in this format you can’t have more than five fielders out. That gives me freedom to play my shots.”
