Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s Apuia scored a stunning goal in the last minute of stoppage time as they defeated Jamshedpur FC 2-0 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata in the second leg of the second semi-final of the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season. After losing the first leg at Jamshedpur 2-1, the Mariners turned the tide in their favour as they marched into the final with an aggregate score of 3-2.

It was all Mohun Bagan throughout the game from the first whistle. They were continuously attacking, but somehow, Jamshedpur managed to hold them off from scoring as the first half ended 0-0. Then, in the second half, courtesy of a penalty from Jason Cummings, Mohun Bagan took the lead.

Here is the goal by Apuia:

In the 94th minute, when it seemed that the game might go into extra time, Apuia produced a magical goal. Anirudh Thapa set it up for Apuia, who shot a right-footed curler into the goal. Albino Gomes, the Jamshedpur goalkeeper, was superb throughout the whole game. He even got a fingertip on the ball but it was not enough to stop it from going into the net.

That goal brought joy to the home team and approximately 58,000 fans at the Salt Lake Stadium, as it ensured their berth in the final. Albino and the other Jamshedpur teammates were left frustrated and heartbroken.

Now, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the league shield winner, will face Bengaluru FC in the final at the Salt Lake Stadium on 12 April with an aim to add another piece of silverware to their cabinet this season — the ISL Cup.
