Pakistan batter, Imam-ul-Haq suffered a brutal blow on his head during the 3rd ODI vs New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. While chasing 265, both Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique came out to open the innings. But on the third delivery of the third over of the innings, this incident took place. Imam set off for a quick single after playing a short of a length ball around off from William O’Rourke.

The fielder threw the ball towards the bowler’s end, hitting Imam on the head. Imam immediately fell to the ground and was clearly in trouble. A buggy ambulance took him off the field. Fans are very concerned about this incident, and their concern can be seen on social media.

Usman Khan has been named the concussion substitute for Imam-ul-Haq

Since Imam was hit on the head, Pakistan were allowed to make a concussion substitute. In their official statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said, “Usman Khan has been named the concussion substitute for Imam-ul-Haq, who sustained an injury after being struck on the jaw by the ball.”

However, Imam suffered a head injury against the same opposition, New Zealand, back in 2018. In the second ODI played in Abu Dhabi, Imam was hit by a Ferguson bouncer. It happened on the first ball of the 13th over. At first, Imam looked fine, but when he was about to resume batting, he lost his balance again and nearly collapsed. An ambulance arrived, and Imam was taken away on a stretcher to the hospital. Later, the PCB confirmed that he had not suffered any serious damage.
