Off-spinner Shreyanka Patil is set for an exciting comeback as she joins Barbados Royals for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2025. The defending champions announced her signing with a vibrant social media post that read: “From Bengaluru to Bridgetown, Barbados. She’syoung. She’s fun. And a WPL star! Say hello to your newest Royal, Shreyanka Patil.”
The rising Indian cricketer had been sidelined due to injury and missed the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. She has not played competitive cricket since October 2024, making this WCPL appearance a much-awaited return.
Shreyanka has already shown her talent in Caribbean conditions. She played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2023, where she was the top wicket-taker of the tournament with nine wickets and played a key role in taking her team to the final. She also won the Purple Cap in WPL 2024, proving her consistency in T20 leagues.
The WCPL 2025 will be held in Guyana from September 6 to September 17
Shreyanka will join a strong Barbados Royals team that includes Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and star all-rounder Hayley Matthews. Matthews is the highest run-scorer and wicket-taker in WCPL history. With two consecutive titles already, the Royals are aiming for a third. Patil’s inclusion is expected to boost their spin attack.
Apart from Patil, India’s experienced pacer Shikha Pandey will return to play for Trinbago Knight Riders. Uncapped Indian leg-spinner Salonee Dangore has also earned her first big break and will play for the same team.
All seven matches of the WCPL 2025, including the final, will be played at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
