Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) comprehensively by eight wickets with 10 overs to spare at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh today, May 29, in Qualifier 1. RCB advanced to the final, while PBKS will now have to face the winner of Eliminator 1 on June 2 in Ahmedabad.

RCB thoroughly dominated the match. First, their bowlers took wickets at regular intervals. PBKS were four down in the powerplay. All the RCB pacers were excellent during that phase. Then came Suyash Sharma, who posed another big problem for the PBKS batters. PBKS could only manage 101 runs in 14.1 overs.

“Not doubting on my decisions in terms of planning.” – Shreyas Iyer

When RCB came to bat, they gave no chance to the PBKS bowlers and chased the target with 10 overs to spare. After the match, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer looked confident and hopeful about a comeback in Qualifier 2. They now have to face the winner of the Eliminator, scheduled to take place between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT).

While talking to the broadcaster, Shreyas Iyer said: “Not a day to forget, but we have to go to the drawing board. We were befuddled and lost a lot of wickets. Something to go back and study. Not doubting on my decisions in terms of planning. Outside of the ground, it was on point. Couldn’t execute, can’t blame our bowlers. It was such a low total. Got to work on our batting, on this wicket. In all games here, there has been variable bounce. Can’t give such reasons because we are professionals and we have to live up to it. We have lost the battle but not the war.”
