Jitesh Sharma, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter, believes that the upcoming tour of the West Indies offers a priceless opportunity to evaluate players ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. In an interview with Sportskeeda, Jitesh said that with the tournament scheduled to taked place in the West Indies and the United States of America, this was the ideal time to test out new talents.
“I feel whatever preparation you do for a World Cup when you represent your country, it begins about a year and a half before the event,” said Jitesh. “With the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies, I feel it is the best time to test the players who will be playing in that World Cup.”
Although he is yet to represent India, Jitesh’s outstanding performance in the IPL 2023, where he amassed 309 runs from 14 matches at a strike-rate of 156.06, have made him a strong contender for selection in the T20I squad.
