When the private-public line gets blurred no one is the winner || Trisha Ghosal

So my, here are my two bits about the whole Chetan Sharma sting operation. I have seen a lot of people pointing out that he was drunk. So say he was drunk. Chetan Sharma must have been sitting and drinking with a FRIEND like all of us do, and that friend leaked his video to get views and likes and TRP! It’s not great journalism, and it’s shambolic journalism, and only a cheap human being will do that! This sting operation reflects so poorly on us media people. I am friends with several sportspersons, and at times, I have seen them withhold info or avoid some questions or lie when we have chatted personally, and I have felt bad. I have wondered why there is a trust issue.

My thought process has always been when I am your friend. I am not a journalist or a media person, and whatever is spoken about stays confidential, much like what my friends from other professions stay confidential. But these incidents make things more complicated and probably increase trust issues further! All this for some gossip regarding painkillers or Rohit and Virat or Ganguly-Virat? For some views? For some numbers? It’s beyond my understanding, probably because loyalty to a friend is more significant than any job, any number of views, any promotion or anything else!
