Boria Majumdar in Dubai
One more day and another tournament will come to an end for us at RevSportz. And yet again, we have been able to win the coverage. Every nuance, ground report, practice details, lives, fun and banter — it has been a very demanding three weeks in Dubai. And yes, there are many learnings. That RevSportz is now a go-to platform is evidenced when people come up to us in the press box and say they want to be a part of the team.
Two examples will suffice. We were all covering practice when one of the players from the UAE team walked across to us and asked, “What is the name of your platform”? As Gargi answered RevSportz, he a bit frustratingly parted with saying, “Arre RevSportz is already subscribed. All of us follow. I felt it was something new.”
We smiled, as the young man walked inside to join his team mates.
The other happened in the food area when a colleague who is well established came up to me and said, “Can we work together? RevSportz is a breath of fresh air. This all sports thing is so inspiring. Do please take me, for it will give me the motivation to get better.”
That’s what it is about. Motivation. The zeal to do well and chase excellence. Yes we will make mistakes on the way and everyone does. But the determination is always there and will be there. No one can ever doubt our commitment to excellence and it is now proved time and again.
As we are in Dubai, Trisha and Snehasis are already in Guwahati waiting for the Indian women’s team to arrive for their first World Cup game on September 30. It will be the best on-ground coverage for the World Cup and I urge viewers to back the team and back our coverage. We have to back our women, for they have a fantastic chance and it is essential that the game is followed as much.
The world para-athletics is already on in Delhi and yet again we have Abhishek Mishra already there. Joining him tomorrow will be our investor and colleague Jaimin Bhatt. And come Monday, Gargi Raut will be back on-ground in Delhi to report on the World Championships. Rohan Chowdhury, our Paralympics reporter, will be in Delhi on Tuesday post-Pujas and we will yet again have the best on-ground coverage.
In the meantime, Shamik will travel to Ahmedabad for the first India-West Indies Test.
This is RevSportz for you all. A platform for and by the journalists and for fans. Fan and digital first, nuanced and comprehensive coverage of multi-sport.
For the moment, however, the focus is on the final tomorrow. It can get rough and I have asked all my colleagues to make sure they don’t give in to provocation. Just the other night, a bunch of fans were showing us the middle finger on the show and while we brushed it aside, not always is it easy to control tempers. But then, that’s what we will need to do, with irresponsible administrators like Mohsin Naqvi determined to fan the fire.
And yes, once India win, Subhayan, who has bought a drone for his DJI, will make a video all-round Kalyani on his return and celebrate with his new toy. Like I said, it is all fun and banter for us while chasing excellence.
Back us and happy Panchami to everyone.
