Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has expressed his gratitude for being part of the national team despite not being able to bowl due to injury. Green is currently involved in the second Test against West Indies, where he played a crucial knock of 52 runs off 123 balls, forming a vital 93-run partnership with Steve Smith that helped stabilise Australia’s innings.

At the end of Day Three, Green reflected on his place in the side and acknowledged the opportunity he has received.

“To be able to sneak into (the team) while still not bowling, I’m incredibly grateful for that and hopefully my output can be a little better than it has been. But today was a nice sign that things are trending well,” he said.

Bowling Return Timeline Still Uncertain

Green also shared an update on his physical condition and the progress toward returning to bowling. He revealed that although his back is no longer an issue, it’s now about slowly increasing his bowling workload to ensure a full recovery.

“I’ve certainly had enough rest, so my back is not an issue, it’s more getting load ups now. It’ll be a steady progression and hopefully around a couple of the Shield games (I’ll be bowling), potentially one-dayers against India (in October), but those are all pretty far away, so we’ll wait and see,” Green added.

The ODI series against India, scheduled for October, could mark Green’s return to bowling duties, depending on how his recovery shapes up over the coming months.
