WI vs NEP: Nepal Clinches Series with Historic 90-Run Win in Second T20I

Nepal scripted a historic 90-run victory over the West Indies to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series in Sharjah. Wicketkeeper-batter Aasif Sheikh was adjudged Player of the Match for top-scoring in the game.

Rohit Paudel won the toss and elected to bat first, but Nepal suffered an early setback, losing two wickets with just 14 runs on the board. Aasif and Sundeep Jora stitched together a 100-run partnership off just 66 balls, which not only stabilised the innings but also laid the foundation for a big total.

Aasif was the highest run-scorer for Nepal, making 68 off just 47 balls, including eight fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 144.68. Jora scored 63 from 39 balls, with three fours and five sixes, at a blistering strike rate of 161.54. Nepal reached 173/6 in their 20 overs. For the West Indies, captain Akeal Hosein and Kyle Mayers took two wickets apiece.

In response, the West Indies got off to a poor start, losing two wickets during the powerplay. The Men in Maroon never recovered, continuing to lose wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for just 83. Mohammad Aadil Alam was outstanding for Nepal, taking 4/24 in his four overs at an economy rate of 6.00. Kushal Bhurtel also impressed, claiming three wickets for 16 runs in 2.1 overs at an economy of 7.40.
