South Africa have named their 15-player squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be held in India from September 30 to November 2. The team will be led by Laura Wolvaardt and the side includes both experienced players and young talent.
Proteas Women head coach Mandla Mashimbyi said: “What a journey it has been. From the moment I joined this team, and even before my time when the squad went through the qualification phase, it was all about working towards this moment. We can look back at the amount of preparation we have put in and know that we have done our best. We are ready to send a squad to the World Cup that will make South Africa proud.”
The squad has senior players like Chloé Tryon, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, and SunéLuus, who will bring valuable experience. Batter Tazmin Brits will add strength, while Nadine de Klerk, Anneke Bosch, Annerie Dercksen, and Nondumiso Shangase will be the all-rounders.
On the wicketkeeping front, the team has SinaloJafta, who will be joined by 17-year-old KaraboMeso, who will play her first senior World Cup after two U–19 World Cups.
In the bowling line-up, Nonkululeko Mlaba will lead the spin attack, with seamers Masabata Klaas and Tumi Sekhukhune will be offering variety. Miané Smit has been named as the travelling reserve.
CSA Convenor of Selectors Clinton du Preez praised the team, saying: “A massivecongratulations to all the players who have been selected for this prestigious tournament. Their hard work and sacrifice over the past three years have earned them an opportunity to represent SouthAfrica at a 50-over World Cup — an honour a player receives a few times in their career.”
South Africa will begin their campaign against England on October 3.
