India captain Rohit Sharma shared his initial thoughts on the recently announced schedule for the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5. Rohit expects the tournament to deliver numerous exciting matches. With just 100 days remaining for the ODI World Cup to kick off, the ICC unveiled the schedule on June 27.
India’s last World Cup triumph occurred in 2011, when they co-hosted the tournament alongside Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. India defeated Sri Lanka in the final to secure their second 50-over World Cup title. Notably, since the 2011 World Cup, only host nations have claimed the title, with Australia emerging victorious in 2015 and England triumphing in the 2019 edition held in England and Wales.
“It’s going to be a great experience playing in the World Cup at home. India won here 12 years ago, and I know fans nationwide can’t wait for us to take the field this time. This World Cup is going to be very competitive as the game has become faster and teams are playing more positively than ever before. All this augurs well for fans worldwide, promising them many thrilling moments. We look forward to preparing well and being at our best this October-November,” Rohit said about the upcoming World Cup.
