Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has indicated that the request put forth by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to modify the schedule of the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup is unlikely to be accommodated. Shukla attributed this difficulty to the challenges involved in making alterations to the existing schedule, which was earlier tweaked.
The HCA had sought a revision of the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup itinerary. The request stemmed from concerns raised by local police regarding the consecutive hosting of matches, including the high-profile encounter between former champions Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
“I am in charge of the Hyderabad venue for WC. If there will be any issue or anything, will try to get it resolved. It is not easy to change the World Cup schedule and it’s unlikely to happen. Only BCCI can’t change schedule, teams, ICC, all involved,” Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by PTI.
Notably, the initial roster of World Cup 2023 matches was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and ICC in June this year. However, subsequently, nine matches had to be rescheduled due to security concerns.
