UP Warriorz have announced English wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones as the injury replacement for Australian batter Phoebe Litchfield for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. The change comes at a crucial stage of the tournament as the Warriorz are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Litchfield has been one of UP Warriorz’s standout players this season. She scored 243 runs in six matches at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 154.77. Currently, she is the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament and was acquired by the Warriorz for INR 1.20 crore. However, she has now been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Her absence will be strongly felt, especially with UPW entering the most critical phase of the league.
Amy Jones, on the other hand, brings vast international experience. She has played 125 T20 internationals for England and has scored 1,666 runs in the format. She will also strengthen the wicketkeeping department. UP Warriorz have signed her for ₹50 lakh and expect her to add depth to their batting line-up.
UP Warriorz are currently at the bottom of the points table with four points from six matches. Their qualification chances are still alive, but only if they win their next two games with a strong net run rate. The Warriorz will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on January 29 in Vadodara, and in their final league-stage match, they will meet Delhi Capitals on February 1 at the same venue.
