Delhi Capitals (DC) bowler Sneh Rana was at the centre of an unusual incident during the third match of WPL 2026 against the Mumbai Indians (MI), held at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred on the final ball of the 16th over.
While attempting to bowl a short delivery, Rana completely lost her grip and the ball slipped out of her hand. It pitched well short of the batter, bounced three times, and slowly rolled down the leg side.
The moment became even more intriguing due to MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s reaction. She could have easily hit the ball anywhere, as she had ample room and time to capitalise on the opportunity, but instead chose to remain in her crease rather than attempt a big shot. DC wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee collected the ball comfortably, and the umpire immediately called a no-ball and awarded a free hit to MI.
However, the free hit did not cause much damage to DC, as it yielded only one run for MI. This strange passage of play quickly caught attention online and has already become one of the most memorable highlights of the match.
Rana did not have a good outing, as the off-spinner failed to take a wicket and conceded 32 runs from her three overs at an economy rate of 10.70. MI eventually won the match by 50 runs.
