In the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League in 2023, Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, clinched the championship title. Despite securing the second position in the league table, they showcased their prowess by defeating UP Warriorz in the playoff match and ultimately triumphing over Delhi Capitals in the final. Now, as they embark on a new season, Mumbai Indians are eager to commence their campaign with a victory against one of the formidable teams from the previous season.

In contrast, Delhi Capitals had an impressive run in the previous season, topping the league table and earning a direct entry into the finals. However, their aspirations were dashed as they faced defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the ultimate showdown. With the memory of their finals loss fresh in their minds, Delhi Capitals are determined to seek redemption by defeating the defending champions in their opening match of the tournament.
