Mohammed Siraj lit up the fifth day of the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval, helping India secure one of the most memorable victories in their Test cricket history. The win meant India drew the series 2-2.
Siraj’s five-wicket haul, combined with Prasidh Krishna’s four wickets, powered India to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in recent times. This result also helped India improve their position in the points table of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.
For England, however, it was a missed opportunity — not only to seal the series 3-1 but also to strengthen their position in the WTC standings.
Updated WTC 2025–27 Points Table (Ranked in ascending order):
Australia – 3 wins in 3 matches (36 points, 100% PCT)
Sri Lanka – 1 win in 2 matches (16 points, 66.67% PCT)
India – 2 wins in 5 matches (28 points, 46.67% PCT)
England – 2 wins in 5 matches (26 points, 43.33% PCT)
Bangladesh – 0 wins in 2 matches (4 points, 16.67% PCT)
West Indies – 0 wins in 3 matches (0 points, 0% PCT)

India now have two upcoming home Test series. The first is against the West Indies, followed by a series against South Africa. The West Indies will play a two-match Test series against India, starting on 2 October. South Africa will then tour India for two Tests, with the first match beginning on 14 November.
On the other hand, England’s next Test assignment is the Ashes. The five-match Test series against Australia, to be played in Australia, will begin on 21 November.
