Mitchell Starc scored a brilliant fifty as Australia were bowled out for 207, setting a target of 282 runs for South Africa to win the WTC Final 2025.

Starc has scored 11 fifties in his Test career, but this was perhaps the most important knock of his career. Australia were struggling when he came to the crease, and he single-handedly took his team to a formidable position to win the match. Starc came in to bat on the last ball of the 25th over when the score was 73/7, after Pat Cummins was bowled by Lungi Ngidi.

Starc joined Alex Carey in the middle, and they put on a 61-run partnership that gave some respite to Aussie fans.
