Ahead of the WTC final. Sunil Gavaskar noted that adjusting to the longest format after playing T20 cricket for the last couple of months would pose a challenge for the Indian players. With the exception of Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, all other squad members were playing in the IPL. Meanwhile, Pujara was representing Sussex in Division 2 of the County Championship.

“The biggest test will be the fact that just about everybody will be coming out of a T20 format, and Test cricket is a longer format. So, I think that’s going to be the big challenge,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports.

“They (India) have only Cheteshwar Pujara who has been playing in the English County Championship, so he will be the only guy who has played the longer format in these conditions, so that’s going to be the big challenge for them.”

The eagerly anticipated WTC final is scheduled to take place at The Oval in London, commencing on June 7.
