Promising young batter from Delhi, Yash Dhull, said he wants to focus on the present and not dwell too much on what lies ahead. He also emphasised how training at the Centre of Excellence has helped him.

“I am thinking about how I can grab the opportunity that I have. If you think too much about the future, you can’t play well in the present,” Dhull told PTI Videos. “I am living in the present and continuing with my training. Yes, I’ve been batting a bit with the red ball – the lessons at the National Cricket Academy (now the BCCI Centre of Excellence) on how to switch from white-ball to red-ball cricket are helping me a lot right now.”

Dhull had a hole in his heart and had to undergo surgery for it. He returned to the field stronger. Speaking about the experience, the 22-year old said: “That incident helped me a lot because I realised what I’m capable of. No one was standing with me at that time. I knew I was alone, and I had no choice but to make a comeback. I just kept myself mentally strong. I had confidence in myself. I knew I would play again one day, and I knew how I would make it.”

Dhull expressed his gratitude to his coaches.

“They are the ones who taught me everything. I am blessed to have such good coaches. I have Rajesh Nagar sir and Pradeep Kochhar sir, who have guided me. They must be very happy to see my performances. I am very happy to play under them,” he said.

The former U-19 captain Dhull has played 30 first-class matches and, in 50 innings, has scored 2,054 runs at an average of 45.64, including seven centuries and six half-centuries. He has also played 21 List A games and, in 18 innings, has scored 611 runs at an average of 43.64, including one century and two fifties.
