
Canada will be led by Dilpreet Bajwa in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Still only 22 and set to turn 23 this month, Bajwa will be captaining the national side for the first time. This will be the second time Canada will take part in the T20 World Cup. They previously featured in the 2024 edition, where they registered a memorable win against Ireland.
Bajwa has been a consistent performer in the shortest format of the game. He has played 17 matches, scoring 397 runs at an average of 28.35 and a strike rate of 133.22. His tally includes four half-centuries. The all-rounder also played some aggressive knocks, including 57 off 18 balls and 68 off 22, in the Super 60 T10 tournament in Canada in October.
The squad includes Yuvraj Sharma, an opening batter and a big hitter. The 19-year-old has played 16 T20s and scored 442 runs at an average of 36.83 and a strike rate of 160.72, including three fifties. Former captain Saad Bin Zafar and familiar names such as Nicholas Kirton, Dilon Heyliger, and Kaleem Sana are also part of the team.
Canada are placed in Group D alongside South Africa, UAE, New Zealand, and Afghanistan. They will begin their campaign against South Africa on February 9.
