Thursday, July 6, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the appointment of Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the newly formed management committee, with a four-month term.
Ashraf, backed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), will assume the responsibility of overseeing the PCB’s operations, subject to the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who serves as the patron in chief of the PCB. The federal government authorized the establishment of the committee through a summary that was circulated for approval.
Ashraf takes over the position from former PCB chief Najam Sethi, who voluntarily resigned. Comprising ten members, the Management Committee includes Kalim Ullah Khan, Ashafaq Akhtar, Mussadiq Islam, Azmat Parvez, Zaheer Abbas, Khurram Soomro, Khawaja Nadeem, Mustafa Ramday, and Zulfiqar Malik.
Additionally, Mahmood Iqbal has been appointed as the PCB’s chief election commissioner, replacing Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana. The newly-formed management committee is scheduled to hold its inaugural meeting in Lahore on Thursday.
