Henry Nicholls, Rachin Ravindra, and Devon Conway lit up Bulawayo with commanding centuries as New Zealand took firm control of the ongoing second Test against Zimbabwe after day two. The trio’s heroics powered the visitors to a mammoth total of 601/3 at stumps, giving them a massive 476-run lead.
Conway was the first to reach his century. Showing patience and composure, he scored 153 off 245 balls, hitting 18 boundaries. His knock laid the foundation for the innings before he was dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani.
Henry Nicholls then took charge and continued to punish the bowlers. He remained unbeaten on 150 from 245 balls, including 15 fours. Rachin Ravindra added flair to the innings, hammering a brilliant unbeaten 165 off just 139 deliveries, laced with 21 boundaries and two sixes. His aggressive approach provided the perfect acceleration in the latter part of the day.
Earlier, Will Young’s 74 and Jacob Duffy’s 36 also contributed to New Zealand’s dominance as Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled for breakthroughs. So far, Muzarabani, Trevor Gwandu, and Vincent Masekesa have taken a wicket each.
The carnage began with an opening stand of 162 between Conway and Young, followed by a 110-run partnership for the third wicket between Conway and Nicholls. However, the biggest blow to Zimbabwe came from an unbroken 256-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Nicholls and Ravindra, which pushed the Kiwis to a towering 601/3 by stumps.
