
Seam-bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch played a superb innings on Day 1 of the first Test between South Africa and Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. The 24-year-old scored a brilliant unbeaten 100, helping South Africa finish the day with a strong total of 418/9 after 90 overs.
Coming in to bat with South Africa at 289/7, Bosch showed great patience and composure. The right-handed batter took his time early on before gradually building his innings. He faced 124 balls, struck 10 boundaries, and scored at a strike rate of 80.64, playing intelligent cricket throughout. This was his maiden Test century and came at a crucial moment for his side.
Bosch shared important partnerships with Keshav Maharaj (21), Codi Yusuf (27), and Kwena Maphaka (9*), which significantly contributed to South Africa’s lower-order resilience. His calm and measured approach gave the team a much-needed boost after early setbacks.
Pretorius Shines with Stunning Debut Knock
Earlier in the day, Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored a magnificent 153 on debut, while Dewald Brevis added 51. Alongside Bosch’s century, these innings formed the backbone of South Africa’s total.
For Zimbabwe, Tanaka Chivanga was the most successful bowler, claiming 4 wickets. Blessing Muzarabani also bowled well, taking 2 wickets.
Bosch’s century underlined his potential as a reliable lower-order batter and could prove decisive in the context of the Test.
