Zimbabwe defeated Kenya comfortably by seven wickets, with five overs to spare, in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final to qualify for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Brian Bennett was the hero for Zimbabwe, scoring a brilliant fifty.

Chasing a small target of 123, Zimbabwe openers Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani gave them a superb start. They played aggressively and stitched a partnership of 76 runs off 38 balls, which put Zimbabwe in commanding position. Bennett top-scored for Zimbabwe with a flamboyant knock of 51 off just 25 balls, including eight fours and two sixes, at a strike-rate of 204.00. Marumani also played well for his 39 off 27 balls, including five fours. After that, there was not much left to do for the other batters, and Zimbabwe finished the match easily. For Kenya, Vraj Patel took two wickets.

Earlier, Kenya won the toss and opted to bat. They had a poor start, losing both their openers cheaply. Rakep Patel played a knock that provided the much-needed solidity to the Kenyan innings, and his effort was instrumental in taking Kenya to a respectable total. He scored 65 off 47 balls, including eight fours and a six. Most of the Zimbabwe bowlers were very economical, with Blessing Muzarabani being the pick of the lot as he finished with figures of 2/19 in his four overs. Bennett was adjudged the Player of the Match. Zimbabwe will play Namibia in the final.
