Zimbabwe outplay Sri Lanka to level T20I series 1-1

Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by five wickets with 34 balls to spare in the second T20I of the three-match series in Harare. Zimbabwe’s bowlers were excellent, as Brad Evans and captain Sikandar Raza took three wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka to a low score. The series it now tied at 1-1. 

Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to field. None of the Sri Lankan batters could build an innings. Kusal Mendis was the first to fall when Blessing Muzarabani got him caught by Richard Ngarava. After that, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The top-order was dismissed by Muzarabani and Evans, while Raza ran through the lower middle-order.

Evans finished with figures of 3/15 in his 2.4 overs at an economy rate of 5.60 while Raza got 3/11 in his four overs at an economy rate of 2.80. Muzarabani finished with 2/14 in three overs. Sri Lanka were all out for 80 runs in 17.4 overs. 

Chasing an easy target, Zimbabwe lost three quick wickets and were struggling at 27/3 at one point. Ryan Burl remained unbeaten on 20 runs, and Tashinga Musekiwa remained not out on 21 to ensure Zimbabwe reached the target well before 20 overs. Raza was adjudged the Player of the Match.
