Neeraj Chopra weighs his words before articulating his deep thoughts, aware of his growing responsibility as a leader in the Indian sports firmament. It is not often that he pinches time off his schedule to express himself not with the javelin but with words. And when he accepts RevSportz’s invitation to grace TrailBlazers yet again, it is good reason to anticipate his inputs.
His inspirational journey from a village lad to Olympic and world champion has been so well documented that it does not need recounting. He makes Indian hearts beat with pride and joy with his desire to remain focused on his journey to excellence. He has earned enormous goodwill in the international community and is a great ambassador for the country.

His genial, down-to-earth and charismatic persona draws people. Not just fans but also fellow-athletes, coaches and support staff from across other disciplines are in awe of his achievements and the comfort they feel in his presence. Significantly, he has understood the adulation that comes along and has approached this role with a calm demeanour.
Since the time he participated in TrailBlazers in March 2023, Neeraj Chopra has added amazing layers to his personality, adding the World Championships gold medal in Budapest and won the Asian Games crown for the second time running. He will return to TrailBlazers, having grown further in his stature in javelin throw and as a strong advocate of Olympic sport.
The manner in which he joined Kishore Kumar Jena in his arguments with the technical officials and then celebrated his team-mate’s personal best throws in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou last year will be etched in the minds of all those who witnessed it. You could sense that the camaraderie he shared with Jena was not a pretense but very real indeed.
Neeraj Chopra is a leader in many senses but one who wears his success and evolution on the sports landscape with dignity and responsibility. Surely, it would be very interesting to hear him articulate his thoughts on the growth of Indian athletics and on the larger subject of athlete welfare when he joins TrailBlazers 2.0 from his training base.
