India’s former captain Rohit Sharma recently shared his views on how tough it is to play cricket in Australia. His comments came after England were seen struggling in the ongoing Ashes series. Rohit explained why Australia is the most difficult place for visiting teams.

Speaking at an event in Gurugram, Rohit said, “Australia maine khelna sabse difficult hai, aap England ko puch hi sakteho,” which means, “Playing in Australia is the most difficult, you can ask England about it.” Rohit took the example of England’s performance in the 2025–26 Ashes series. England have lost the first three Tests, and the Perth and Brisbane matches ended in less than three days. In the third Test at Adelaide, England tried to fight back but still lost by 82 runs.

Australia are one of the most successful teams in the history of cricket. They have won 10 ICC titles across formats, which include the WTC, ODIs and T20Is. Australia have six ODI World Cups, one T20 World Cup, two Champions Trophies and one World Test Championship title.

Playing against Australia on their home ground, Rohit has scored 439 Test runs at an average of 24.38. In ODIs, he has scored 1192 runs at an average of 62.73, while in T20Is he has 181 runs at an average of 25.85.
