India’s young batting sensation Abhishek Sharma played an unbelievable innings, scoring a century in 32 balls for Punjab against Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the Group C match at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.

Bengal had a decent bowling line-up with veteran Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep and Shahbaz Ahmed. However, due to the impact of Abhishek’s storm, none of the Bengal bowlers finished with an economy rate under 13.

The dashing left-hander, who is also the captain of Punjab, started in blazing fashion. Along with Prabhsimran Singh, he added 205 runs for the first wicket in just 75 balls. Prabhsimran also played a blinder, scoring 70 off just 35 balls, including eight fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 200. After his dismissal, Abhishek continued his blistering knock, though he missed his 150 by just two runs. His breathtaking innings came in 52 balls and included eight fours and 16 sixes at a strike rate of 284.62.

The young Indian opener reached the 50-run mark in just 12 balls, equalling Yuvraj Singh’s joint-second fastest T20 fifty by an Indian.

The 25-year-old’s knock helped Punjab set a monumental target of 311 for Bengal. With the ball, he also removed Bengal opener Karan Lal. Among Indians, Urvil Patel of Gujarat has hit a T20 hundred in just 28 balls. This is Abhishek’s second-fastest T20 hundred, as he also has a 28-ball century.
