India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, has supported India’s experimentation in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies. He stressed upon the point that the three-match series offers a chance for the team to explore different combinations and make adjustments ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 and the World Cup.

The decision to rest key players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the second ODI proved costly as West Indies secured a six-wicket victory. Additionally, in the first ODI, both Rohit and Kohli were demoted in the batting order, raising further concerns about the team management’s decision-making in this series.

“Coming before the Asia Cup and the World Cup, this is the right time to experiment with team combinations and try players at different positions,” Jadeja told the press ahead of the 3rd ODI in Trinidad.

“It gives you a good idea about what the team balance should be like, and what would be the ideal combination. If we need to do any chop and change, this is the right time. We know we lost a game but if you are trying different things, that can happen,” added Jadeja.

The ongoing series is witnessing the team management’s deliberate experimentation, in line with their broader strategy to assess the squad’s depth and give other players valuable match experience ahead of the World Cup.
