All eyes will be on the upcoming superstars of Indian cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, as Rajasthan Royals take on the Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai MansinghStadium.
Both Jaiswal and Jurel have shone brightly recently for the Indian cricket team and would be looking to replicate the same brilliance for their franchise. Zubin Bharucha, mentor to both, has stated, “Preparation with these boys has always been the key, which has been the focus. With Jurel and Jaiswal both, it’s looking like it’s always been to prepare these boys in the right way where they think outside the box to score their runs. Both have that X-factor which will make all the difference in the future.”
Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson, the captain, will have their responsibilities cut out as well, being the senior players of the side, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin add depth to the spin department that has uplifted the Royals’ performances tremendously in the recent past.
For Lucknow, there will be great expectations from KL Rahul who would look to lead from the front. DevduttParikkal, an ex-Royal who is now a Super Giant, will be looking to go all guns blazing against his former team.
Lucknow will bank heavily on Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis as well, who add immense firepower to the middle order. Both Stoinis and Pooran, known to smash the long ball, will be looking to bring the best out of their explosive nature.
In the bowling department as well, Lucknow have a well-balanced unit with Naveen-ul-Haq and ShivamMavi most likely to lead the pace department, while Ravi Bishnoi and the veteran Amit Mishra will look to spin their way through the Royals’ batting lineup.
On paper, both these squads look equally balanced with a good mixture of firepower in both the batting and bowling departments. Both these teams would be looking to get a win to start their campaign on a positive note. While the Royals will be looking to replicate their brilliance from the inaugural season in 2008, Lucknow, one of the expansion teams, will hope it’s third time lucky for them in the IPL.
