Eden Gardens as we all know it is a boiling pot of history and anticipation. The iconic venue has witnessed uncountable historic moments and legendary performances, etching itself as one of the best venues in cricket history. The stadium is an embodiment of the passion and enthusiasm of the people of Kolkata. And it is the people who have elevated the stadium to more than just a cricket arena.

Eden Gardens isn’t merely a cricket stadium, it’s a cultural institution, a place where generations of cricket lovers have gathered to witness history. And in light of the ongoing ODI World Cup, the stadium is going through major redevelopments. Snehasish Ganguly, the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal has promised high-scoring games as the outfield and pitch go through major changes. Eden Gardens has undergone a complete revamp and is now ready to dazzle fans.

HIGH SCORING MATCHES A PROMISE

When RevSportz had an exclusive interview with the CAB President Snehasish Ganguly, he confirmed that the pitch and outfield had been made such that high-scoring games are almost a guarantee for the matches that will take place at the Eden Gardens.

The lush green outfield is receiving special attention from the groundsmen, and the pitch has been prepared to provide extra bounce for the pacers. Ganguly firmly believes that Eden Gardens is undoubtedly the best ground in India.

REVAMPED FAN EXPERIENCE

Before the World Cup began, one of the major concerns of the fans was the condition of the stands and the washrooms. But CAB has taken special care of the same. Stands and under galleries have been renovated along with the washrooms to make sure that fans have a smooth experience while they enjoy the games. To give a completely new look to the stadium, the whole arena has been repainted. All done under the guidance and instruction of the BCCI.

The corporate boxes have also been renovated and the main entrance also got a makeover. To the fans’ delight, blocks B, C, K and L have been adorned with vertical gardens.

NEW DRESSING ROOMS

In addition to the fans, players are also in for a new experience as the dressing rooms, conference rooms, media centre and the main hall have all been revamped. All the redevelopments promise a seamless experience for fans as well as the players and staff.

RENOVATED ROY CLUBHOUSE

One of the biggest redevelopments has been the modification of the BC Roy Club House. The walls have been adorned with historical artefacts and pictures of memorable moments at the Eden Gardens.

On the forefront, Saurav Ganguly’s jersey from the famous Lord’s celebration is encased in a glass box for visitors to see. A list of matches held at the venue along with a list of all the domestic team captains has been hung at the Club House. Giving the stadium a modern but historical look.

The first match of the 2023 ODI World Cup has been here between the Netherlands and Bangladesh on the 28th of October. A much anticipated, high-octane clash between India and South Africa will also take place on the 5th of November.
