
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya hammered his maiden List A century during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Vidarbha at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday. Hardik’s knock powered Baroda to a strong total of 293/9 in their 50 overs.
Baroda were struggling after being put in to bat first by Vidarbha. Their top order collapsed quickly, leaving them reeling at 71 for five. From there, Hardik took charge of the innings and scored 133 runs off just 92 balls. His knock included eight boundaries and 11 sixes at a strike rate of 144.56, marking his first 50-over century since making his senior-level debut.
The highlight of his innings came when he smoked five sixes and a four in a single over off left-arm spinner Parth Rekhade. Baroda captain Krunal Pandya (23), Atit Sheth (21) and Vishnu Solanki (26) were the other contributors with the bat.
For Vidarbha, Yash Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, taking four crucial wickets while conceding 64 runs. However, it was Nachiket Bhute who did the early damage with the new ball, dismissing both Baroda openers and giving away 61 runs. Parth Rekhade also picked up two wickets, while Praful Hinge claimed one.
In Elite Group B, both Vidarbha and Baroda have won three of their four matches. Vidarbha are currently in second place with a net run rate of 1.430, while Baroda are fourth with a net run rate of 0.377.
