Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised Ishan Kishan for his fabulous batting in the second T20I of the five-match series in Raipur.

Speaking on ‘Ash ki Baat’, as quoted by NDTV Sports, Ashwin said, “What a knock, man. What batting from Ishan Kishan, wow, just wow. Anyone who watched him in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy would recognize this instantly. This is exactly how he was batting there too. No pressure of selection, no overthinking – just pure intent and freedom.”

India were struggling after losing ‘man in form’ Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson within the second over of their innings while chasing a big target of 209. Kishan took responsibility alongside skipper Suryakumar Yadav to rebuild the innings and took the pressure off Surya, who was going through an off phase before this match, during the initial stages of their partnership. The duo added 122 runs off 48 balls, which proved instrumental in India’s win. The left-handed batter scored 76 off 32 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes, at a strike rate of 237.50.

Ashwin lauded Kishan’s fearless approach and said, “Even today, he could’ve easily slowed down and scored a hundred, but he didn’t. He kept going for it, kept trusting his shots. That fearless mindset is what truly sets Ishan Kishan apart from the rest.”

Kishan made a comeback to the T20I team after two years in the first match of this series. The 27-year-old was the highest scorer of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. As a result of his domestic performances, he earned selection in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
