Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his maiden ODI hundred in the decider of the three-match series in Visakhapatnam to guide India to a nine-wicket win. The Men in Blue chased down the 271-run target in just 39.5 overs and clinched the series 2-1. Jaiswal remained not out on 116 and was awarded the Player of the Match.

In the post-match presentation, the young left-hander shared insights about his batting:

“I really enjoyed and I’m really grateful and blessed. We have been chatting a lot about we can play, set the tempo. Last two games I couldn’t convert and I was thinking how I can balance the innings. Sometimes I was thinking of attacking, then run the singles. I have to control my thoughts on what shots I can play. If it requires, I need to go after the bowlers. Of course Virat paaji came and he played a lot of shots. He keeps giving me small targets and I really enjoyed.”

South Africa set a target of 271 for India. Jaiswal opened the innings with Rohit Sharma and they added 155 runs off 155 balls, giving India the upper hand. Then, Virat Kohli and Jaiswal stitched an unbeaten partnership of 116 runs off 84 balls to make sure India reached the target without any further loss of wickets.

After two low scores in the first two matches, Jaiswal finally grabbed the opportunity and scored a brilliant unbeaten ton (116* off 121), including 12 fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 95.87. The 23-year-old became the sixth Indian man to hit hundreds in all three formats.
