Indian Junior Boxing contingent set to participate in IBA Junior World Boxing Championships 2023

The Indian Junior Boxing team has arrived in Yerevan, Armenia, for their participation in the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships, scheduled to take place from November 24 to December 4. This event is set to host 448 young talents from 58 nations competing in 26 weight categories, signifying a significant milestone in junior boxing.

The Indian Junior Squad comes into the championship with confidence following their recent success at the 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships, where they secured an impressive 21 medals. This includes 8 medals for junior boys and 13 for junior girls.

Athletes such as Brijesh, Divash, Yogesh, Rahul Kundu, and Hardik, who clinched gold medals at the Asian Championships, will represent India in their respective weight categories at the Junior World Championships. Other talented boxers like Sikander, Sahil, Jatin, Sarthi, Kabiraj Singh, Prashant, Sahil, and Hemant are also set to showcase their skills and compete for glory.

In the junior girls section, gold medalists Pari, Nisha, Nidhi, Akansha, and Megha will lead the Indian squad in their respective weight categories. The team also includes Neha, Payal, Amisha, Vini, Joyshree Devi, Shrushti, Kritika, and Prachi, who will strive to make their mark in the World Championships.

The official draw, scheduled on November 23 along with the opening ceremony, will be followed by the competition up to the quarter-finals from November 24 to 30. The semi-finals are slated for December 2, with the finals taking place on December 3-4.
