The Royal Challengers Bengaluru team has faced criticism for the poor performances of their overseas players, including Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green. However, Will Jacks’ century against Gujarat Titans has silenced some of those, at least temporarily. His explosive innings not only secured a comfortable victory for RCB, but also provided much-needed excitement for the fans rooting for their players regardless of the results.

Jacks entered the mix when RCB lost their first wicket, with the scoreboard showing 40-1 off 3.5 overs. He took time to settle in, facing some difficulty in getting the scoreboard moving. As he spent time at the crease, Jacks seemed to gauge the pace of the pitch, adjusting his game accordingly. Alongside Virat Kohli, he formed a strong partnership, ensuring that RCB maintained the required run rate. By the halfway mark, they had 98-1, with Jacks gradually finding rhythm.

It was the first six Jacks smashed in the 11th over that helped break the shackles to a certain degree. The next six came in the 13th over against Sai Kishore, and after that, there was no looking back. Even though Kohli was responsible for setting the tempo, the control of the game slowly shifted toward Jacks, when he started smashing the ball all over the ground, making life in the middle extremely difficult for the bowlers.

Jacks unleashed a different level of aggression in the 15th over, where he completely dismantled Mohit Sharma, plundering a staggering 29 runs. His assault left everyone, including Kohli at the other end, stunned. Not content with that, Jacks took the battle to Rashid Khan, the spin wizard. The final five balls of Jacks’ innings were a testament to his dominance: six, six, four, six, six, as RCB cruised to victory in just 16 overs.

Jacks reached his fourth T20 century off just 41 balls. His last 24 balls yielded an astonishing 83 runs, highlighting his outrageous ball-striking ability. With this emphatic victory, RCB’s thin chances of qualifying for the playoffs remain alive.
