Lovlina Borgohain seals Paris qouta

Lovlina Borgohain rose to the occasion in the semi-final of the Women’s Boxing 66-75 kg category in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. She unanimously defeated Thailand’s Baison Maneekon (5-0) and sealed her berth in the final. Not only that, this was her chance to seal her place for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024 and she absolutely nailed it.

After the bout, our correspondent, Trisha Ghosal had a quick chat with her as she was asked whether there was any added pressure for her before the semi-final. In reply, she confirmed that there was pressure as she needed to qualify for the final to get a ticket to Paris. 

Lovlina also added that in her previous bouts, she was not able to fight freely due to the added stress. She sounded happy that despite all the obstacles, she managed to get the job done. 

In the second round, she had some trouble but regarding that Lovlina claimed that she was ready to give her 200% in the next round and clinch the bout. Now, she will be up against China’s Qian Li on 4 October in the final as the whole of India will pray for her to bring the Gold medal.
