Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Priyansh Arya, who smashed a sensational century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, April 8, credited senior teammates Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera for their support and encouragement during his innings at Mullanpur.
Despite regular wickets falling at the other end, the young left-hander maintained an aggressive approach, reaching his century in just 39 balls—the second-fastest by an Indian in IPL history. He narrowly missed breaking Yusuf Pathan’s long-standing record of a 37-ball ton, set in 2010. Remarkably, this stunning knock came just a match after Priyansh was dismissed for a golden duck against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Priyansh enjoyed his time in the middle
“Out of the world feeling, I feel very happy but I feel I should contribute more to the team. Shreyas told me to bat with intent, you go for it even with your first ball after I got out last match. When Nehal came out to bat, I told him we will look for singles and doubles, but he told me you play the way with whatever first comes to your mind. All bowlers are good, any bowler could have troubled me,” said Priyansh Arya, who bagged the player of the match award.
Priyansh is now the second Indian batter to hit a century in the ongoing IPL 2025, joining Ishan Kishan from Sunrisers Hyderabad. His hundred also ranks as the second-quickest in PBKS history, behind David Miller’s 38-ball blitz against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) back in 2013.
