Savita Punia and Janneke Schopman Exclusive || FIH Nations Cup 2022 Champions

The Indian Women’s Hockey team earned a place in the 2023-24 FIH Pro League with a narrow 1 nil victory over Spain on Saturday in the FIH Nation’s Cup 2022 Final with the solo goal from Gurjit Kaur (5′).

Reacting to this special feat, skipper Savita Punia and Head Coach, Janneke Schopman, in a RevSportz Exclusive.

Savita: “After Tokyo this was our only goal. This was our best till date and we believe our team can do better than this.”
“Qualifying for the Pro League was important for us because Asian Games will be our next target and in Asian Games our target will be to get direct qualification for the Paris 2024” , added the skipper.

Janneke Schopman: “It’s not just winning the gold medal but it’s more about playing in Pro League, where you play the best teams in the world, and for us to improve, in fact in any sport, if you want to improve, you have to play against the best teams”

We saw Lionel Messi lifting the World Cup finally after so many heartbreaks in the blue and white stripes. The aim is to not give up. Our girls missed the medal in Tokyo by a whisker and they’re up on a roll for the Asian Cup, FIH Pro League and ofcourse the Paris 2024. The journey starts here, with this sweet victory.
